Roo
Roo arrived at Cottontail Cottage as an injured young cottontail in need of urgent care. Despite rehabilitation, she sustained permanent mobility limitations that make survival in the wild impossible. Because of this, Roo now serves as one of our beloved ambassador animals.
Through educational programs and outreach, Roo helps teach the public about wild rabbit behavior, the importance of protecting ground nests, and when wildlife truly needs intervention. Her story encourages compassion and responsible action when encountering native mammals.
Did You Know?
Mother cottontails only visit their nests a few times a day to avoid attracting predators. Many baby rabbits that appear abandoned are actually being carefully cared for from a distance. Always contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator before moving wildlife.
Sponsor Roo
Support Roo’s ongoing care by symbolically adopting her. Your sponsorship helps provide proper nutrition, veterinary support, and safe housing — while also funding rehabilitation efforts for native wildlife across New York.
